Jesus, Friend of Sinners --Abbigayle Ebling
I was locked out of the blog, but I sent this to Zelda so I did turn it in on time. With that noted, here's my long awaited blog post......
Reading over 'The Sixty-Seven Articles" of Ulrich Zwingli, I noticed a pattern in how he thought... It was more factual over thought, and more written like a law book instead of a guidebook, if that makes sense. In essence, it was very straight-forward. I noticed how II, III, and XV can almost be read like a sentence together, and I want to go over that:
Reading over 'The Sixty-Seven Articles" of Ulrich Zwingli, I noticed a pattern in how he thought... It was more factual over thought, and more written like a law book instead of a guidebook, if that makes sense. In essence, it was very straight-forward. I noticed how II, III, and XV can almost be read like a sentence together, and I want to go over that:
"The sum and substance of the Gospel is that our Lord Jesus Christ, the true Son of God, has made known to us the will of his heavenly Father, and has with his innocence released us from death and reconciled God... Hence Christ is the only way to salvation for all who ever were, are and shall be... For in the faith rests our salvation, and in unbelief our damnation; for all truth is clear in him." (II, III, XV)
Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
Jesus is the ultimate salvation, and not only that, He is the ONLY way to salvation. I often think of the people of the Old Testament times and how they got along, because I'd be burning sacrifices left and right because heavens knows this mouth needs saving and my brain needs purification sometimes... They were completely dependent on their sacrifices to appeal to the forgiveness of God. I think we, myself included, often take for granted just how spoiled we are, I mean, we were given the final sacrifice, Jesus Christ. The sinless, pure, and spotless Son of God died for us, so that we wouldn't still be out there killing cows and birds and such all the time. I mean, can you even imagine how angry the vegetarians and vegans would be if we were still out there sacrificing? I can only imagine the chaos, too, as we live in a very dirty and highly sinful mud puddle of a world. (I mean, jumping up and down in muddy puddles is fun, but... Not what I mean, and now probably isn't the best time for a Peppa Pig reference anyhow.)
I guess reading through these in a weird sense left me super thankful for what Jesus has done for me, and I know we had a bunch of Calvinistic stuff to read, and I did so (and I have underlining in glitter pen and notes to prove it.), but I knew if I wrote on that that I would be negative since Calvinism and I go together like oil and water, meaning, we don't mix, and I really wanted to focus on a good thing this week. Plus, salvation is for everyone, and I want to let myself be filled with love and light because I love my Jesus and my Jesus loves me. And I know...
"That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved"... When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?" Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Romans 10:9-10 and Matthew 19: 25-26
P.S. I had commented on the posts of Zelda Peach and Breanna Poole.
