For the Peeps
"In a word, does the supreme power belong to you or to the Roman people? Did the expulsion of the kings mean absolute ascendancy for you or equal liberty for all? Is it right and proper for the Roman people to enact a law, if it wishes to do so, or are you going, whenever a measure is proposed, to order a levy by way of punishment?"
What a challenge. What a question. Does the supreme power belong to you or the Roman people. This specific excerpt resonated with me for many reasons, but the greatest one is probably that I hate to see injustice happen. The idea of people being unable to marry between classes, that your class defined you and not who you actually are (although during this time you are what class you are in lol) saddens me. The conflict and tension up until this point, to where this challenge is being made causes Canuleius to ask this of the Roman government, and it is obvious where we as American's side on this issue. The people should hold the power, so that they are never governed by tyrants or selfish leaders. While there is a chance that the president could be for the people and honest, it also equally true that it could be the other way around, and the people deserve to be free and govern themselves through representation. I side with you bro.

I certainly agreed with him too! The people were totally pushed into a corner and given no representation, so what Canuleius did was give them visions of a better future like an good leader should/would/could do!
