Shimmy Shimmy?- Hannah Schofield

Okay, I was dreading this tragedy initially, but to my surprise the beginning had me rolling. I read the portion about the watchman and actually giggled a lot at how much I related to this uncanny, little fellow. He's in a constant battle with sleep (much like all of us when we're being forced to engage in something we're not too excited to be a part of), he is constantly shaking himself awake and talking to himself while doing so, and finally, he's dancing at one point. Did anyone else vividly picture this oh-so-serious watchman doing the shimmy? Maybe even a good old-fashioned body roll? No? Well, I'll leave my sporadic thoughts here and you can decide what to think of them.
Next, I genuinely have a mad level of respect for Queen Clytaemnestra. Out of all the characters, she seemed to stand out the most to me. I mean, what kind of woman do you have to be to have the will to stand steadfast in your husband's place in front of scornful, stoic men after you've had so much taken away from you, after you've had your own flesh and blood ripped away and killed for your husband's own selfishness? The sacrifice of the daughter also seems like its going to drive the rest of the tragedy. Honestly, I am excited to see where all of this drama leads.

  1. i agree Clytaemnestra really seems well rounded and almost educated even the Leader talks about this.

  2. I completely agree with the fight against sleep, and am now thinking of the guard dancing like Michael Jackson. I also think that Clytaemnestra was a good character, adding something decent to the narrative.
