My Impression -Trey Hughes
I enjoyed reading this part of the book because it gives a different side of Athenian culture and values. Pericles talks boldly and confidently about his country and framed it in a way that these soldiers died for a great country and gave them honor for that. Pericles had a consistent theme throughout the eulogy and it was how great Athens was and I think he wanted to remind and convince the people that they fought for a city that will stand forever in his mind. He truly believed that Athens was the greatest civilization and that these soldiers died for a great cause and he portrayed that very well in his speech.
P.S. I commented on Moriah and Michael's post
