Fragments of Not Just Any Truth

First off, it's probably rather obvious that I am not the best student, as I've taken this long to make my post, and besides that, I had to skip a lot of the introduction in order to read the actual story in time to write my response to it; by the way, I do plan on reading the rest of it later.
Anyway, like several others have pointed out, many similarities can be observed between the Epic of Gilgamesh and the events recorded in the Bible. For example, Enkidu was formed from clay by Aruru, which is reminiscent of God creating Adam from the dust of the ground. In a similar way, how Enkidu falls out of favor with nature is a reflection of how the world was affected when sin entered the world.
I actually believe that the reason this has many elements in common with the Bible is that one, the events in the Bible are true, and two, the events were passed down in stories through generations, though because of the rejection of God and the many generations it filtered through, only pieces of the original truthful narrative are displayed within the fictitiously-enhanced story of Gilgamesh. This way of thinking is also supported by the fact that a large number of cultures have a similar flood narrative.
What do you guys think about this?

P.S. I commented on the posts of Brenna and Katie.
