Saucy Pedantic Wretch Sun of an Ironmonger - Nate Strum

The Sun Rising was the best (only) anthropomorphic sun poem that I’ve ever heard.

Makes me want to give this poetry thing a try.

Let's see...

The Sun: Enemy of Mr. Donne
The Sun: Shut the Curtain
The Sun: Clears the Gray
The Sun: In Bed I Can’t Stay
The Sun: Nuclear Fusion
The Sun: Stops Me Snoozin
The Sun: Enemy of Slumber
The Sun: Makes Flowers Burst Asunder
The Sun: Warm
The Sun: The Drowsy Mourn
The Sun: not the Sleepy Man’s friend
The Sun: We’re Near the End
The Sun: Starts the Day
The Sun: Last Blog Post, it’s Almost May

  1. Nice poem! It is interesting to think of the sun as an anthropomorphic character in a poem. Usually those traits are given to animals, plants, or bugs in poetry. I suppose it is not too strange. After all, ancient myths usually attached a powerful deity to the sun. Technically, I don't think what Donne is doing is new, but it is an effective way to get his message across.
