Roman Numerals are A Little Hard to Read (17) - Cade Wood
Something that caught my eye in Zwingli's sixty-seven articles was article number seventeen. It says,
"Christ is the only eternal high priest, from which it follows that those who have called themselves high priests have opposed the honor and power of Christ, yes, cast it out."
Zwingli was very bold in saying this. Honestly, he was bold in saying a bunch of things he said, but he was extra bold in saying this in my mind. He kind of called out all priests. He said, this paraphrased of course, they basically were dumb and should be cast out. He challenges those that have been "called by God and His eternal authority." He says that they basically do not know what they are talking about. Instead, they opposed God's power and honor. Basically, they did the opposite of what they thought they were trying to do. It interested me because it seems as though Zwingli tells them that they were wrong for doing something they devoted their entire lives to. He doesn't just say they should stop either, he says they should all be cast out. This makes me think of them be excommunicated. I know this is a short blog, but this is just what interested me.
I commented on Phillip's and Madison's posts.
