Changes Katie Byars

My favorite of the passages was The Dream of the Rood. I really enjoyed the imagery in it. Truth was probably my least favorite of the passages, but that was only because I could only understand every other line. It had words like lytel that I just could not figure out. Even the spellchecker doesn't recognize it as a word. Isn`t it amazing how much the english language has changed over the years? Even looking back only a few decades in the past there are words that we never use any more. Sometimes it is fun to google old words that are never used anymore. Like, excogitate which means to bring out by thinking. Apparently, lytel means small. I wonder how we went from lytel to small. The only thing in common is the two lls and they aren`t even in the same spot. The english language evolved from something that we wouldn`t be able to recognize today. They probably would not be able to recognize the words for today. We even have trouble today recognizing some of the words. I recently had to stop by a store and saw a pocket handbook for understanding terms like lol. I can not wait to see how it changes next.
