Well, persecution is a thing

So when reading the letter by Pliny, it is easy to see the hatred towards Christianity for what seems like no reason. He doesn't explicitly tell Trajan why he is executing Christians but he does explain why he questions them?? Honestly the whole thing just seems like a power play to me, but what do I know. He talks about Christianity as though it is something to be examined and taken lightly, when in all actuality the weight of Christianity is fairly heavy. Christians have faced persecution and will continue to face persecution for rest of earthly existence because of sin. However, the reward is so much higher than the risk. We are called to be faithful to Christ and loving to those who persecute us because they have persecuted Jesus before us. I think it is incredible to understand that we will never face any trial or pain that Jesus has not already undertaken. He is truly the most awesome God and will forever be my savior.

P.S. I commented on AnnaKate and Kayla's posts :)

  1. It is definitely incredible that we never face any trial that Jesus hasn't already faced. To think that He empowers us to make it through those trials is even more incredible. I can't understand the love of God. I don't understand why Jesus came to die the death i deserve, but I sure am grateful he did.

  2. They are afraid of the Christians. The power they hold as a unitied people, and their desire to go into ALL nations and preach, most likely scares the Romans. They need to remove the Christians in order to remove the possibility that they are wrong.
