Unstoppable Faith
As I’m reading the letter by Pliny the Younger, I’m seeing a shift in the motivations of the Romans coming against the Christina, persecuting them. The Romans are killing the Christians because they are afraid of them. They understand the power the Christians have with their unified desire to spread what they believe, and the Romans understand the Christians could eventually overrule the state if they are allowed to become too powerful. The unwavering faith of God’s people is something that the Roman government couldn’t create or maintain even if they wanted to.
In the third letter, you see the Romans going even further, again imprisoning and executing Christians. However, now they are even removing and destroying all symbols of Christianity, as well as burning all available copies of the Bible. The Romans continue to pursue and attempt to break the Christians; But truly they are only making them stronger. Not letting their brother or sister’s sacrifice be in vain. They continue to pursue the mission they have, to spread the good news and pursue God with their lives.

This is so true! Reading that selection from Pliny I saw how cruel and unjust the Romans who claimed to be the best people in the world were. It's very unfair to the people who simply believed in Christ, as they were comnstantly attacked and threatened, and burned almost nightly for entertainment, which is simply disturbing. Furthermore, I loved reading about the man who smiled in the face of danger when he declareed that he was Christian. That is how we should act in light of any trial upon our life, and we shouldn;t take the privileged ability to freely believe in Christ for granted.
