Okay so yeah?

I am choosing to write on Book VI and let me just preface this with the fact that I basically understood almost nothing so this whole post will just be ramblings from my mind of what I pieced together from this selection. There are so many questions that need to be answered, but one thing that I do appreciate is Virgil's ability to literally incorporate every piece of mythological history into one book. I did learn that Helen had another husband after Paris which I had not previously known. Also, what is the whole deal with the golden bough? Aeneas is somehow changing fate by getting this bough and it seems to be kinda a big deal and also his dad is dead and in heaven? Honestly, kinda spooked, but then again, Rome. Anyway, trying to piece this all together is really interesting and honestly way too confusing I think for me to understand anytime soon, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

P.S. I commented on Zelda and AnnaKate's :)

  1. Honestly, if it makes you feel any better, I've been confused since we started this book as well. Also, I was interested in the whole heaven and hell thing with Tartarus, which I thought was only meant for Kronos, but apparently I'm wrong. Anyways, You aren't alone in being confused.

  2. yeah its kinda amusing to see how many times romans take something greek and call it something different and say its roman, i.e. religion, government (kinda)

  3. I think we can all take something away from this epic. Roman literature is very difficult to understand for most modern teenagers, and originality was no longer a big concern when the Anied was written.
