Count it all joy, but can you really?

As I read this at first Luther's Reformation period came to mind. Except it was "Christians" killing Christians in Luther's time, not Romans killing Christians. Nero really sucked, and seemed to be way worse than many others who killed Christians. I think what got to me the most was while reading, I could picture the things that happened to the Christians in my mind. I am not going to go into detail because it was obviously gruesome. While I read though, I kept thinking of the verse, "Count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations." I have a little index card that sits in car's dash that says, "Count it all joy," to remind me to be thankful when I have a bad day.

I got to thinking that we sit here and think we would be able to take a stand for God and endure persecutions, but could we do it in this level. It makes me think of last year when the honors class read the book Silence. He thought he had great faith, and he was going to go to Japan and change the country. When he was captured, and it came down to him renouncing his faith after being tortured so badly, he did it. He renounced his faith. I just think this reading really put me into perspective if someone was ever put in that situation where they were was severely persecuted for their faith, would they be able to even endure it.
