History In Context: The Trojan War as Told By Aeneas

Book II gives us what this whole class has been about. HISTORY. Even if there are Trojan survivors in the city, the citizens most likely do not know the story as well as they think. Murals on the walls only tells so much. When learning history, it is better to find the best sources possible. Lucky for Dido, Aeneas was actively involved in the war and other major affairs of the Trojan people. He knew the people who attacked them as well. He was also a great orator to boot. Oftentimes, history is idealized for the sake of raising people a certain way. In this, Aeneas gave the city a more complete picture of what happened including the fine details of how the "horse" was brought into Troy under the guise of a gift from Minerva.

Fine details are everything in history. It can be the difference between a propaganda story and the real occurrence.

P.S. I will be commenting on Sydney and Breanna's posts.
