Devil's Advocate

All this talk about justice for the plebians reminded me of a point I made in my Western Civ paper regarding Pericles. “This is a great thought in theory; however, there will always be social standing. Even if Pericles was able to create a society in which “social standing” did not exist and everyone was equal, tiers and levels of society would naturally recreate themselves.” Although I don’t agree in all regards to how the plebians were treated;it is the natural way. As long as the society exists on this earth, there will be tiers and levels of power and influence. Someone’s gotta be on top and someone’s gotta be on the lower end of the food chain. The plebians advocation for change is messing with the established social order of Rome. They are becoming the ones causing problems. The Petrachins view the plebians as unprepared and unfit to handle positions higher in government, and they are right to some regard. The Plebs have never had that kind of power. I feel like it would all go to their heads. Plebs, stay in your lane.
