Confusion
Okay, so honestly I read book eight twice all the way through because it was hard to grasp for me. Basically the gist of book eight is the comparison of the different types of men and types of government. Gaulcon and Socrates (maybe??? Because there are no quotation marks to dictate who is speaking and when and it honestly drives me insane so yeah.) are having this conversation about how if there are different types of government, then there must be the same amount of types of men. He goes through trying to pair the different men with the governmental form. For instance, the Spartan government is compared to men who "covets honor and insists on victory", the aristocracy are good and just, timocracy is directly correlated with men of honor and love, and so on and so on. I think this is mostly good logic, but I do think that often times they look at men in a very shallow light. They subject men to purely values and abilities without considering emotion and mental state. I am honestly enjoying reading this even though it's kinda confusing wow.
P.S. I commented on Zane and Breanna's posts :)

I know how you feel. It took me so long to get through the book trying to figure out who is who. But I did not like the fact that he is assuming how everyone would act a certain way. He does not take into account that everyone acts different.
