Talk About Family Drama
I may or may not have read further than i was supposed to, but that's okay right? To me this story sounded like just a lot of revenge. But first, why would he kill his own daughter? That is just sick and twisted. Especially if Agamemnon does not even know for sure if the gods would give him favor in the war. So, because Agamemnon killed his own daughter, his wife decided to plot his death for ten years. She had no idea whether he was alive or dead since he had been fighting for so long, but she still hated him that much which is understandable, but still a long time to hate someone. When she finally gets the chance, she killed him, killed the princess, and then showed everyone she had been cheating on Agamemnon with his cousin. Turns out the cousin of Agamemnon was actually the son of a man who had been fed his own children by his brother, which is actually disgusting. Then the Chorus, who I thought was the best part of the story because they ran around basically narrating the story and somehow all talking in unison, talks about how Agamemnon's son is going to come back and avenge his father. This will most likely lead to other cousins/sons or daughters/step-siblings coming to kill Orestes.
This sounds a lot like a plot summary, but a say all that to say this, i was very interested by this story. There were some twisted, sick parts, but overall I enjoyed it. I also think Agamemnon got what was coming to him. Also this story kind of made me think of Taken 2 when Liam Neeson told the bad guy he didn't want to kill him because he had other sons that would keep coming for him and his family, but then killed him anyways.

Okay well it feels good to know I am not the only one who found the weird stuff interesting, well what I got of it. I am really glad you posted this because it definitely made me understand the plot much better. There is definitely some family drama going on, and I sensed that, but after reading your post this really is some messed up family stuff.
ReplyDeleteI agree that most of the story seems to be a dark, twisted narrative, and I'm not sure I like it.
